“In God’s Image”
When you start the wicked ways of creative madness
What about supergluing a man’s meat and two veg to his wife’s face,
Or see how long it takes a child to die
Upside down above a spit-roast.The Marques de Sade wrote books about this
And there is a certain diary in the Tower of London
All about thumb-screws and racks.
The S.S. knew a few cruel tricks too,
Like how many rapes a highly pregnant woman can take
Before she gives birth to a still-born child. The Americans tortured it’s prisoners in Iraq,
Us British are cruel to our asylum-seekers,
Let no race think that they are holier than the rest
For they are all men (and women) my friend, and man
Was made in the image and likeness of god
Who loved to watch people suffer because he had demanded it so,
Ask Job.—

ughh
the world is ugly and it is also beautiful. that is all.
scintilating. I had me some suffer…notice it rhymes with supper.
This is a fresh perspective on an overdone topic, executed with due justice. Interesting.
. props.
Dear Ben,
July is always a bittersweet month for me. Terry died almost as soon as I “met” him here on Xanga. And my roommate Joel died in July as well.
Great tribute. And a great poem.
Also, neat to learn new things about Terry. I didn’t even know Bob Smartass had his own site, and I just now went over to Tiffy Witherington’s site! I do miss the first “Xangalebrity” I ever met here. I didn’t understand him at first, but in time, esp. after I found out about his cancer, I completely understood the output and the personas. A true original whom I will never forget. And glad to see you presenting his work again.

Is it not my imagination, but wasn’t everything restored to Job twofold after his trial? God restores as well as destroys- man does not, at least not completely.
@one_thousand_to_1 - God only does what we believe / imagine he does. I didn’t write this poem or the Bible; both are creations of man. Job is, in my mind, a fictional character, as is God. Relevant, none the less, to many people thanks to the phenomena of belief (faith) and lots of indoctrination.
