  • Sin Civility

God cleansed the world, because he didn’t like sin
but man couldn’t help himself and started up again.
So God came to visit in the body of a man
and was persecuted, suffering, just as any man can
in order to find some forgiveness in his heart
for man, who will sin when his will falls apart
though man’s will was a joke, God was playing a game
just to prove he and man were, in no way, the same.

  • made in His image, so the story goes

  • @an_OM_aly - then apes must have been created in the image of His ancestors ;)

  • I love this in so many ways. Just… brilliant.

  • so lemme get this right, god cleansed the world because he didn’t like sin. was this after he made sin? ohno, i’m missing the point, aint i? : )

  • @be_the_rain - god cleansed the world = god flushed the toilet

  • I think that this can be interpreted in the way that you do, but, as you are often to point out your cogent disagreements with me I hope I can say that I disagree with you on this point. I think that if we are to use this mythology then that Christ was to be both Divine and Humane to show that this is the true state of Man. That Man in his sin is not inherent in this Sin but has a way out via, as you point out, his Will-this Will is Divine-the holy umbilical cord to the ineffable immutable. That we cannot achieve it in a Whole, as of yet, is not to say that it does not exist just as, I think I can say, we believe in Love though few of us live up to it in any long stretches.

To put it in a shorter form because I get so long winded and confusing, God was not showing that we are not the ‘same’ but in fact was showing us that we were the same. But, and here is the big but, that the realization must be catalyzed by the individual-that Man is not Man without his divine counterpart-he is a monkey in a suit if he does not realize this.

But I could be wrong. Again, a lovely and poignant post.

    Be well

  • @fallenguru - thanks for the thoughtfulness of your response. that’s what I’m talking about. that is the “divine” that men need to appreciate more to see things more clearly. we only have feelings so we’ll know what’s most important to think about and negative feelings (fear) = negative thoughts (hate) – an over-simplified calculus I have maintained a reasonable faith in – with a grain of salt.. IMO, faith should never be obsessive

  • Interesting. Simple, yet eloquent. :D

  • Dear Ben,
Comment 2: Since I didn’t see nor read this piece in February when you posted it, this is new to me. I love the alliteration (my poetic specialty, and always fun to read) in the title. Almost as if it is one word.
This is actually a very spiritual piece. Again, bravo.
